Greek mythology has been the main topic for all sorts of media from movies to books to shows to musicals, so now for all our mythology enthusiasts here are some recent and upcoming media that has Greek Mythology as its main focus.

A Nico de Angelo Adventure by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was the first book of the series that released in June of 2005 and now 20 years later this beloved coming of age book series that focuses on bringing the characters and stories of Greek mythology and combining it with the modern times is still ongoing releasing new content this year. In September of this year, the author, Rick Riordan or what his longtime fans call him, “Uncle Rick,” had released book two of The Nico di Angelo Adventures series titled The Court of the Dead with his co-author Mark Oshiro which focuses on fan-favorite characters, Nico di Angelo and Will Solace continuing the story of the other series before it, still keeping the story fresh with unique ideas and storylines. If you’re a fan of Greek Mythology and are looking for a long book series, then this book and its following series is for you.

“The Court of the Dead is fun. I like the characters and the wacky adventure. The themes are excellent and touching, and it’s moving to see how far Nico has come. The climax of the story doesn’t have as much emotional impact as the showdown between Nico and Nyx in The Sun and Star, but it’s still dramatic and exciting. This is overall a good tale of finding new paths in life, forgiving and accepting others, and learning to enjoy the moment. It’s hopeful and sweet, and silly and weird, and I really liked it.”—Righter of Words on October 4th, 2025 (full review can be found here)
If you’re not a big fan of books though or haven’t read the original series, Uncle Rick has you covered because him and Disney have been slowly adapting the original book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, into a show and this upcoming December season two is coming out. Season two of the show will be focused on book two of Percy Jackson, The Sea of Monsters, which was based on the Odyssey; it focusses on the events, monsters, and people that could be found in it while telling its own story. Although it hasn’t come out yet, seeing how season one did, new and old fans alike have high hopes for the new season.

Now if you’re a fan of video games, September of this year has brought the long-waited sequel of Hades, a game released in 2020 that was a roguelike action role-playing game by Supergiant Games. In the first game, players control the son of Hades, Zagreus, as he tries to escape the Underworld with the aid of the Olympians while his father attempts to stop him. Now in 2025 players control his sister, Melinoë, as she has to defeat Kronos, the Titan of Time, to help save her home. Hades II is considered a great addition to the franchise, it improves the gameplay, has interesting and lovable characters, replayablity and fans consider it a success that is a wonderful continuation of the first game. The game features many characters and references to Greek myths, with all the characters being well designed and characterized. If you’re a giant fan of roguelike games and Greek mythology, then you’ll love this sequel game.
“I grew to love an excellent and varied cast of mostly new characters inhabiting the night-shrouded crossroads between the realms of the living and the dead. Supergiant’s character designs remain at the absolute peak of the mountain with their distinctive silhouettes, strident but never garish use of color, clever interpretations of classic myths, and tiny, delightful details placed just for the super nerds who can quote The Odyssey from memory.”—Leana Hafer on September 24th, 2025 (See full review here)
New media surrounding Greek mythology is plentiful and isn’t hard to find, but despite that people still have ways to be creative when it comes to the old myths creating unique stories and adding onto the original tales. All are so creative yet so similar since they come from the same source, I personally love everything on the list and I think you will too once you start reading, watching, or playing them.
